How did we choose these caterers?
We used only public information from each caterer’s own website and its parent company’s site, checked on 25 Oct 2026. We favoured caterers that publish menus, minimum orders and service details, and gave weight to food safety and halal credentials stated in writing.
The criteria we applied:
- Range of formats: buffets, mini buffets, canapés, bento, live stations and sit-down meals, so you can match the caterer to the event.
- Published details: menus, per-guest prices and minimum guest numbers you can check before you call.
- Credentials: food safety certification such as ISO 22000, recognition under the Singapore Food Agency’s Farm-to-Table Recognition Programme, and halal certification where the caterer states it.
- Track record: years in operation, as stated by the caterer or its parent company.
- A distinct fit: each pick covers a different kind of event, from family milestones to large corporate functions.
We did not taste the food, and we did not score caterers on reviews. Awards mentioned in the write-ups are the ones each caterer lists on its own website.
How much does catering cost per person in Singapore?
Based on menus published on caterers’ own websites, catering in Singapore costs about S$30 to S$57.77 per guest in 2026. Seminar buffets sit near the lower end, while canapé and cocktail menus cost more. Many caterers quote prices before the 9% GST.
| Menu | Caterer | Published price per guest | Minimum guests |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full-day seminar buffet (2 tea breaks and 1 lunch) | Kate’s Catering | S$30 (GST not stated) | 25 |
| Sample buffet menu | Purple Sage | S$32 (GST not stated) | Not stated |
| Nusantara Buffet | Lavish | From S$35 (S$38.15 incl. GST) | 40 |
| Aura canapés (6 items) | Purple Sage | S$35 (S$38.15 incl. GST) | 30 |
| Fluorite cocktail reception | Orange Clove | S$45 (GST not stated) | 30 |
| Blossom canapés (8 items) | Purple Sage | S$47 (S$51.23 incl. GST) | 30 |
| Crocus canapés (9 items) | Purple Sage | S$53 (S$57.77 incl. GST) | 30 |
Neo Garden, Rasel, Stamford, Grain, Chilli Manis and Four Seasons did not publish a price we could confirm, so they are listed as price on enquiry. Ask each one for a written quote that states the total incl. GST.
What changes the price of a catering order?
The biggest factors are the format you choose, how many dishes are on the menu and how many guests you are feeding. Setup, service staff, decorations and whether the quote includes GST can also move the final bill noticeably.
- Number of items: Purple Sage’s canapé menus rise from S$35 for 6 items to S$53 for 9 items per guest, before GST.
- Format: standing canapé receptions and cocktail menus cost more per guest than a seminar buffet on the menus we checked.
- Minimum orders: most buffet and canapé menus start at 25 to 40 guests, so a smaller group may pay for more food than it needs unless it books a mini buffet.
- Extras: Stamford Catering, for example, offers decoration packages, butlers and service staff on top of the food.
- GST: a S$35 menu becomes S$38.15 once 9% GST is added.
Which catering format suits your event?
Buffets suit most office lunches and family parties, mini buffets suit small groups, canapés suit standing receptions, and bento suits meetings where people eat at their desks. Live stations add a cooked-to-order element for weddings and larger celebrations.
| Format | Typical group size (menus checked) | Suits | Offered by (examples) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mini buffet | Up to 10 or 15 guests | Small office meetings, home gatherings | Purple Sage, Kate’s, Grain, Stamford, Four Seasons |
| Seminar buffet | From 25 guests | Full-day workshops with tea breaks | Kate’s, Grain, Purple Sage |
| Buffet | From 25 to 40 guests | Corporate lunches, birthdays, full months | Most caterers listed |
| Canapés or cocktail reception | From 30 guests | Launches, networking, standing receptions | Purple Sage, Orange Clove, Four Seasons |
| Live stations | Event-dependent | Weddings, parties, showcase events | Purple Sage, Orange Clove, Kate’s, Grain, Four Seasons |
| Bento or meal boxes | Per box | Meetings, offices, spread-out seating | Purple Sage, Rasel, Kate’s, Grain, Four Seasons |
How do you check that a caterer is halal?
Search for the caterer’s name in the Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS) halal certificate directory before you book. Several caterers here say they are halal-certified, but certificates are issued for specific premises, so confirm the certificate covers the kitchen preparing your food.
On their own websites, Stamford Catering says it is MUIS halal-certified, Lavish says it cooks from a halal-certified kitchen, and Chilli Manis and Four Seasons Catering describe themselves as halal-certified. Rasel Catering and Kate’s Catering offer halal catering. Purple Sage runs its halal catering under a separate brand, CaterSage. We did not find halal details for Neo Garden or Grain, so ask them directly.
What should you ask a caterer before you book?
Ask for a written quote that shows the price per guest, the minimum order, GST, delivery, setup and collection. Then confirm food safety and halal credentials, dietary options and whether service staff are included, so there are no surprises on the day.
- Is the quoted price before or after 9% GST?
- What does setup include? Stamford’s premium buffets, for example, list warmers, table skirting, biodegradable tableware and collection afterwards.
- What is the minimum guest count, and is there a mini buffet for smaller groups?
- Can the menu cover vegetarian, allergy or other dietary needs?
- Which food safety certification does the kitchen hold? Orange Clove, for instance, holds ISO 22000.
- How far ahead do you need the final guest numbers?
Frequently asked questions
How much does catering cost per person in Singapore?
On menus published by caterers and checked on 25 Oct 2026, prices run from about S$30 per guest (Kate’s Catering full-day seminar buffet) to S$57.77 per guest incl. GST (Purple Sage’s Crocus canapé menu). Delivery, setup and service staff may be charged on top.
Do catering prices in Singapore include GST?
Not always. Purple Sage and Lavish show prices both before and after 9% GST, while other menus we checked do not say. Ask for the total incl. GST, delivery and setup before you confirm.
What is the minimum number of guests for a catering order?
Most buffet and canapé menus we checked start at 25 to 40 guests. For smaller groups, mini buffets are available: Purple Sage’s serve up to 10 or 15 guests, and Kate’s, Grain, Stamford and Four Seasons also offer mini buffets.
How do I check if a caterer is halal-certified?
Search the caterer’s name in the MUIS halal certificate directory and check that the certificate covers the kitchen that will cook your food. A caterer’s own website is a starting point, not proof.
What does buffet setup usually include?
It varies by caterer. Stamford Catering’s premium buffets include warmers, table skirting, biodegradable tableware and collection afterwards. Ask each caterer exactly what its package covers and whether staff stay to serve.
