The best renovation contractors in Singapore for 2026, on the evidence we could check, are Empire Works, PRDT Interiors, Hurry General Contractor and Chop Heng Long Interior Design & Renovation. Each publishes its registration claims or track record on its own website. Before you sign, confirm any contractor on HDB’s Directory of Renovation Contractors.
Which renovation contractors did we pick?
We picked four contractors whose credentials, scope of work and, where published, prices we could read on their own websites. Two focus on HDB flats, one also handles condos and landed homes, and one is a general contractor trading since 1984.
The list is deliberately short. We have held back several other firms until we can confirm their details against HDB’s register and their live price pages, and we will add them once that is done. The At a glance table and a write-up for each contractor follow.

How did we choose these renovation contractors?
We rated each contractor against four published criteria: registration claims you can check, a clear scope of work, published prices or timelines, and a track record stated by the firm. We did not use paid placements, forum reviews or ratings we could not trace.
| Criterion | What we looked for | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Registration claims | An HDB registration, BCA registration or CaseTrust accreditation stated on the firm’s own website | You can check each of these on a public register |
| Scope of work | A clear list of home types and services | Helps you shortlist firms that do your kind of job |
| Published prices or timelines | Budget ranges, package names or typical durations on the firm’s own site | Lets you plan before the first meeting |
| Track record | Years trading or number of projects, as stated by the firm | Shows experience, though it is not a measure of quality |
Empire Works comes first because its website states an HDB registration number as well as BCA registration and CaseTrust accreditation, and it covers the widest range of homes. PRDT Interiors follows for publishing both a typical budget and a typical timeline. Hurry General Contractor has the longest stated trading history and a BCA registration with a financial workhead. Chop Heng Long offers design and renovation under one roof for homes and offices, but we could not confirm how long it has traded, so we left that detail out.
How do the picked contractors compare?
The main differences are the homes each firm works on and how much it publishes. Empire Works and PRDT Interiors state the most registration details, PRDT Interiors is the only one to publish a budget range, and the other three quote on enquiry.
| Contractor | Registration claims on its own site | Homes and work covered | Published price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Empire Works | HDB (HB-05-5970G), BCA, CaseTrust | HDB BTO and resale flats, condos, landed homes | Price on enquiry |
| PRDT Interiors | HDB, RCMA-CaseTrust | HDB 3-room to executive flats, BTO, resale and DBSS | S$25,000 to S$70,000 typical HDB budget, GST not stated |
| Hurry General Contractor | BCA, with a financial workhead | General building contracting, public sector projects up to S$5 million | Price on enquiry |
| Chop Heng Long Interior Design & Renovation | Describes itself as an HDB home renovation contractor | Kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms, homes and offices | Price on enquiry |
Prices and claims are taken from each firm’s own website, checked on 6 October 2026. Registration numbers printed on a website are the firm’s own claim: check them on the official register before you pay a deposit.
How much does a renovation cost in Singapore?
Of the contractors we picked, only PRDT Interiors publishes a figure: a typical HDB renovation budget of S$25,000 to S$70,000, with GST not stated. The others quote on enquiry, so ask at least two or three firms for itemised written quotes.
What changes the price is mostly scope. The size of the flat, whether it is a new BTO or a resale unit, how much carpentry you want, and whether the kitchen and bathrooms are being redone all move the total. Resale homes may need old finishes removed before new work starts, which adds labour and time. Materials matter too: ask each contractor to name the brand and grade of tiles, laminates and fittings so quotes can be compared fairly.
On timing, PRDT Interiors gives a typical timeline of 8 to 14 weeks for an HDB renovation. Build that into your plans if you are moving out of a rental or waiting on key collection.
Do you need an HDB-registered contractor?
Yes, for an HDB flat. Only contractors on HDB’s register may carry out renovation work in HDB flats. Check the firm’s name and registration number on HDB’s Directory of Renovation Contractors yourself, rather than relying on a number printed on a website.
Homeowner guides such as HomeMatch and Renodots both point to this HDB rule. Condos and landed homes follow different rules, so if you live in private property, ask the contractor which approvals it will handle and whether your management corporation has its own renovation guidelines.
What is the difference between HDB, BCA and CaseTrust accreditation?
HDB registration is the legal requirement for working in HDB flats. BCA registration shows a contractor meets the Building and Construction Authority’s minimum standards. CaseTrust is a scheme run by the Consumers Association of Singapore that covers clear pricing and dispute resolution.
The three are separate, and a firm can hold one without the others. Registrations also have expiry dates, so look at the status shown on the BCA directory, not just the firm’s name. If a contractor says it is CaseTrust accredited, check CASE’s list of accredited businesses before you rely on it.
Should you hire a contractor or an interior designer?
Go straight to a contractor if you already know the layout, finishes and carpentry you want. Choose an interior design firm if you want help with the concept, drawings and coordinating trades. Some firms on this list, such as Chop Heng Long, offer both.
A contractor usually works from your brief and drawings, which can keep the scope tight. A design firm adds planning and coordination. Whichever you choose, make sure the firm that signs the contract is the one registered with HDB for the work in your flat.
How do you check a renovation company before signing?
Confirm its HDB registration and any CaseTrust accreditation, look at a portfolio of real completed homes, and read independent reviews on forums such as Renotalk or platforms such as Qanvast. MoneySmart’s guide to choosing a renovation company recommends these steps.
Before you sign, also ask for:
- an itemised written quote, with brands and quantities;
- a payment schedule tied to stages of work, not a large upfront deposit;
- warranty terms in writing, including what is excluded;
- who applies for permits and who supervises the site day to day;
- a written start date and handover date.
Who handles electrical, gas and plumbing work?
These trades need separately licensed professionals, not just a registered renovation contractor. Ask your contractor which licensed electrician, gas worker and plumber it uses, and ask for their licence details before work starts.
Frequently asked questions
Are these renovation contractors HDB-registered?
Empire Works and PRDT Interiors say on their own websites that they are HDB-registered, and Chop Heng Long describes itself as an HDB home renovation contractor. Check any firm on HDB’s Directory of Renovation Contractors before you sign.
How long does an HDB renovation take?
PRDT Interiors gives a typical timeline of 8 to 14 weeks for an HDB renovation. Smaller jobs take less time, and resale flats needing more removal work can take longer. Get the timeline in writing.
Does PRDT Interiors’ published budget include GST?
Its website does not say. Ask whether the quote includes GST before comparing it with other contractors.
Can I use any contractor to renovate my HDB flat?
No. Only contractors on HDB’s register may renovate HDB flats, and electrical, gas and plumbing work needs separately licensed professionals.
What does CaseTrust accreditation mean for a renovation contractor?
CaseTrust is run by the Consumers Association of Singapore and covers clear pricing and dispute resolution. It sits alongside HDB registration, which is the requirement for working in HDB flats.
