Best car workshops in Singapore (2026)

The best car workshops in Singapore for most drivers are ones with CaseTrust or AA approval, clear quotes and experience with your make. Our seven picks for 2026 are Hock Cheong Automec, Optima Werkz, Motoserv, Revol Carz Garage, The Right Workshop, Precise Auto Service and 1 Car Service, each checked against its own published details.

Which car workshops did we pick?

We picked seven workshops that publish enough about themselves to check: what they work on, where they are and, for most, an approval or a clear quoting practice. Two mainly suit European car owners, the rest handle a wider mix of makes.

The list mixes long-running groups with smaller independent garages. Every detail below comes from each workshop’s own website, the AA Singapore approved workshop directory or company register records. None of the workshops publishes a fixed servicing price on the pages we checked, so each is shown as price on enquiry.

How did we choose these workshops?

We looked for four things: a CaseTrust or AA approval, a clear quote before work starts, a stated list of car makes handled, and a published address with opening hours. Workshops that met more of these ranked higher. We did not use star ratings or review counts.

We also left out the slogans many workshops use about themselves. Where a claim matters, such as being first to hold an approval, we say it is the company’s own claim. The table shows what we found for each workshop. “Not checked” means we did not find it in the pages we opened, not that the workshop lacks it.

How much does a car service cost in Singapore?

Published guides put a basic or minor service at roughly S$80 to S$500 and a major service at S$250 to S$1,700, depending on the car and whether you use an authorised dealer. None of the sources says whether GST is included, so confirm before booking.

The ranges below come from four published guides, checked on 17 October 2026. MoneySmart’s figures are estimates based on authorised workshops, which explains why they sit higher than the others. The workshops on our list price on enquiry, so ask for an itemised quote for your car.

What changes the price most is the make, the size of the engine, the oil grade the manufacturer specifies and whether parts are original or aftermarket. A major service also replaces more items, such as spark plugs, filters and fluids, so the labour time is longer.

Should you use a dealer or an independent workshop?

An authorised dealer knows one brand closely and uses factory systems, but usually costs more. An independent workshop often costs less and handles several makes. The gap has narrowed where independents use dealer-level diagnostic tools and original parts, so ask what tools and parts they use.

Some independents on our list address this directly. 1 Car Service says it uses the same diagnostic systems as brand dealers: PIWIS for Porsche, ISTA for BMW, XENTRY for Mercedes-Benz and ODIS for the Volkswagen group. Revol Carz Garage says it uses original parts and oil to factory specification. If your car is still under a manufacturer warranty, read its terms before choosing, and keep every service record.

What should you check before booking a workshop?

Check that the workshop handles your make, ask for an itemised quote before any work starts, and look for a CaseTrust or AA approval. Then confirm the opening hours, whether it helps with accident insurance claims, and how it will tell you about extra work.

  • Approval: CaseTrust accreditation is run by the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE). AA Singapore keeps a directory of approved workshops.
  • Quote: an itemised quote lets you compare workshops line by line. The Right Workshop also photographs worn parts it replaces.
  • Makes: European specialists such as Revol Carz Garage and 1 Car Service suit those brands, while all-make workshops suit mixed households.
  • Claims: several picks, including Hock Cheong Automec, Revol Carz Garage and The Right Workshop, handle accident or insurance claims.
  • Hours and access: most workshops close on Sundays and public holidays, and Optima Werkz closes at 1pm on Saturdays.

If you are buying a used car, a pre-purchase inspection is worth booking. Motoserv, The Right Workshop and 1 Car Service all offer one, and 1 Car Service gives a written report, including for parallel imports.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I service my car in Singapore?

Both bcc.sg and MoneySmart suggest a service every 10,000 km or six months, whichever comes first. Your car’s own service schedule takes priority, so check the handbook.

What is CaseTrust and does it matter for a car workshop?

CaseTrust is an accreditation run by the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE). Accredited businesses commit to fair trading practices such as written quotes and a process for handling disputes. It gives you a clearer route if something goes wrong. Hock Cheong Automec and Motoserv both say they are CaseTrust accredited.

Can any workshop service a hybrid or electric car?

Not every workshop is trained for high-voltage systems. The Singapore Motor Workshop Association runs hybrid and EV training for mechanics. On our list, Motoserv says its mechanics completed IMI (UK) certified hybrid and EV training, Optima Werkz does hybrid battery work, and The Right Workshop covers Tesla and BYD.

Should I get a used car inspected before buying?

Yes, an independent inspection can reveal problems a seller may not mention, such as past accident damage or engine and gearbox faults. Motoserv, The Right Workshop and 1 Car Service offer inspections before purchase, and 1 Car Service provides a written report.

Do published servicing prices include GST?

The general price guides we checked do not say whether GST is included. Ask the workshop whether its quote includes GST before you agree to the work.
